The recent "Fall Creators" update to Windows 10 broke Windows File Sharing for many users. This was news to me as it I have no trouble connecting and my backups using SMB are still working without any problems even after the latest Windows 10 Update.
I came across seagate-goflex-not-compatible-with-windows-10 thread on Microsoft Answers which started in 2015 with the last reply in December 2017. What does all this mean?

FTPS stopped working
I don't use FTPS myself and prefer SFTP (Google ftps v sftp if you want to know the differences, but basically FTPS is the same File Transfer Protocol as FTP with an encryption layer added over the top).

IP cameras generally offer an option to record or save to an FTP or NAS location and the GoFlex Home is great for this job as it has FTP and SMB servers.
The problem is that Seagate chose to set up long folder names with spaces in them e.g. GoFlex Home Public and other devices often have trouble with that.

How to format a 3TB GoFlex Home
Maybe you want to reformat the drive to start over or maybe you're upgrading to a larger drive, but the seagateshare web interface format option won’t work with 3TB drives and you can't use the USB adapter off a GoFlex Desk or Backup Plus, so how do you format a 3TB drive?

If you have a disk drive connected to the GoFlex Home USB port you can backup the GoFlex Home main SATA drive to it. But if you do that from a remote PC using File Explorer it is very slow especially over a wireless network, because the data is travelling from the GoFlex Home to your PC and back again.

Configure the iTunes media server (mt-daapd)
The GoFlex Home runs a Firefly media server (as well as the minidlna media server) and the good news is that you can configure it through it's own web interface. I don't use iTunes myself but apparently it is quite popular.

FTP Port 21 blocked
Some ISPs block port 21 or maybe you just don't like leaving port 21 open.
If you have a router which does port translation (takes packets received for one port and redirects them to another port) then there's no problem. But if your router won't do that then the following might help.
