I‘ve had my GoFlex Home for over 5 years and I’ve never had any trouble, but I’m the kind of guy who likes to be prepared so I checked out the Seagate forums to see what issues other users were having, just in case.
I found that most of the advice from Seagate Support moderators was poor and a lot of the time it was just plain wrong so I started posting under the user name kenji_57.
There were some great contributors, most notably Roby B, who worked for Axentra ; the company that developed the “Hipserv” firmware for the Seagate GoFlex Home.
Then Seagate blew away the Lithium forums and hundreds of very helpful posts were lost. Their new community forum was complete rubbish. I made a few posts under the username fd f but now Seagate has abandoned their customers and shut down the user forums altogether.
So I started this blog...
Yes, I could post on the Open Stora GoFlex Home forum but there's no guarantee that forum will always be around either (though it is a great forum with some dedicated and knowledgeable contributors).
Update: Sadly it seems the OpenStora website is no longer available which is a shame.
This blog is as much for my own benefit as anyone else's, though I hope maybe someone else find the information here useful. There have been a few times where I've had to go back to researching a question that I know I've answered for myself before but can't remember the details and wished the Seagate forums were still accessible.
